Corner Tree Cafe

After a very hectic morning, I wanted to eat in a quiet place, relax, then maybe, work a bit more. I remember that there’s this vegetarian restaurant on the other side of Jupiter street in Makati, so I grabbed my bag and headed there.

Upon entering the quaint resto at around 3pm, I noticed that 2 tables were occupied. So, I chose a 4-seater corner table, just in case my bestfriend decides to follow.

To calm my hungry tummy, I started with the Spinach & Malunggay Chowder (Php95 cup/ Php160 bowl), a pureed soup of leafy greens and potatoes. They served it with a whole wheat breadstick and a slice of lemon. This soup was truly comforting to my super-late-lunch pangs of hunger!

For “my lunch”, I ordered their Baked Tofu Walnut Burger (Php260), and requested for a gruyere cheese to be added to it. Friends say that this big treat is “the yummiest vegetarian burger in Manila”.

I personally liked the choice of bread used for it which was a whole wheat bun. To make it yummier, they slathered the buns with mint yogurt sauce and served it with an organic Heinz ketchup, too. (I did not add Heinz to my sandwich.) For my side dish, it was a choice between sweet potato fries with their homemade mayo or an organic green salad. I chose the latter.

Actually, I could have stopped eating after my soup and breadstick, but my bestfriend texted to say he’ll follow for a chat and a cup of coffee. I am glad he did coz the sandwich was too big to finish all by myself.

My beverage cum dessert was the Mango-Pineapple-Banana Fruity Smoothie which was a pick-me-up since it was packed with A-beta-carotene, vitamin C, potassium, enzymes and cleansing power from ginger (Php130).

I love unplanned discoveries.

Corner Tree Cafe was indeed a pleasant surprise and a place I’d visit again, and again, and again.

Can you suggest other healthy restaurants in Metro Manila and what are your favorites there?
